VAC instructor to receive Silver Medal Award at Addy Awards

Sue Fay, an instructor at Tidewater Community College’s Visual Arts Center, will receive the Silver Medal Award from the American Advertising Federation of Hampton Roads at the Addy Awards gala on March 1.

The Silver Medal Award, established by the American Advertising Federation in 1959, recognizes outstanding contributions to advertising and those active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern.

“Sue is a cornerstone in our graphic design program, providing the ‘real thing’ from her vast advertising industry experience in copywriting,” said Chris Rupsch, director of the VAC. “Her charisma with the students is evident, as she shares actual projects that she is working on for her clients. Student evaluations certainly reflect this and rate her at the very top.

As a winner in the Hampton Roads event, Fay will advance to compete against winners from other local clubs in one of 15 district competitions. District winners advance to the national awards.

The March reception will be at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Virginia Beach.
