Tidewater Community College’s Career Studies Certificate in Marine Gasoline Engine Technology is designed to give you the skills necessary to work as a technician in the commercial and pleasure boating industry. You’ll learn how to maintain, diagnose and repair marine inboard and outboard engines.

At TCC, you’ll be involved in a hands-on program that emphasizes practical experience. Along with classroom instruction, you’ll spend extensive time in the shop working on real marine engines and equipment at the Regional Automotive Center in Chesapeake.

In addition to gaining expertise in marine maintenance mechanics, basic marine electrical circuits and hydraulics, you will learn how to maintain, diagnose and repair marine inboard and outboard engines and stern drive transmission systems.

The marine gasoline equipment market is rapidly expanding, and there’s a critical shortage of trained technicians. Whether you’re changing careers or currently employed in the industry, this certificate prepares you for entry or advancement in the field.

The marine program is an American Boat and Yacht Council Marine League School and Yamaha Motor USA training center.
