Academic advisors at Tidewater Community College can help you define and achieve your educational and professional goals. Advisors will help you select an academic program and assist you with completing an academic and career plan.
Make an appointment
You can meet with an academic advisor one of three ways:
Virtually – Advising sessions are conducted by phone
In person – Advising sessions are held on campus in our advising offices during select hours
Walk-In – Advising sessions are held on campus during all office hours
We also offer walk-in meetings during business hours at all 4 campuses.
Before your meeting
Before your advising meeting, you should complete these steps to help your advisor offer the best guidance:
1. Apply to TCC
Complete your free application for admission to TCC.
2. Apply for financial aid
Planning to use financial aid to pay for your classes? Start the financial aid process at www.fafsa.gov. Be sure to enter TCC’s School Code (003712) when you’re completing the form.
3. Demonstrate math and English readiness
You can take the placement tests at any campus Testing Center. You may be exempt from these tests if you meet certain criteria.
If you completed high school within the last 5 years, bring your high school transcripts, SAT and/or ACT scores to the appointment for review.
If you have previous college experience and would like to see how that course work may transfer toward your program at TCC, bring a copy of your transcripts with you.
